It’s time to say goodbye to our summer wardrobe and opt for something a little warmer, as the UK rain starts to set up. (much to our dismay).
As much as we love snuggling up in knitted sweaters and fluffy winter boots, there is something about the colours and freedom of a summer wardrobe that leaves us nostalgic when we have to realise that the season is passing.
As a last farewell to the strappy dresses we salute this past summer with taking a look at what was trending this summer 2014.
It has been a summer of block colours and prints in great variations. Especially south pacific inspired flower prints and a new trend in prints we adore is animal prints. We are no longer afraid to wear colour and we at Beyond Skin have been loving these new trends.
Before we hit the the summer of 2014, trend forcasting Guru’s WGSN predicted what was in store for us in the aproaching summer.
WGSN predicted wet paint and graphic prints to be part of this years summer outfits.
And boy where they right.
Stella McCartney’s addition to the paint/tie dye trend was a vegetarian silk Penelope dress in beautiful green black and white contrasting colours for that fresh summer look.
You can still get that Stella Summer look and check out Stella McCartney’s other Tie Dye style dress just in time before the fall colours take over.
Motel is dedicated to vintage fashion and started out in the 90’s redesigning secondhand clothing from the Californian coast line and bringing it to the UK. Since then, the brand has expanded but have kept their vintage line, where they up-cycle second hand clothing.
Their addition to the paint style 2014 summer trend was this cut-off polo shirt with all over paint style splatters.
Motel has lots and lots of other vintage wonders on their website for your ethical shopping.
Prints was highly popular this summer season, and still are. At Beyond Skin, we have never been able to get enough of prints so this summer has been a delightful treat for us.
Check out the Beyond Skin Uma sandal with a striking geometric print wedge cover.
Uma was part of our SS’14 collection and has been a big hit this summer.
But since the season is coming to an end, you now have the opportunity to get the Uma sandal in our half price shoe sale!!
Uma is made in Italian geometric printed fabric on the wedge cover and the ultra feminine straps are made in both vegan patent leather and faux metallic leather with a little buckle strap for easy adjustable fit.
Nancy Dee is a british ethical fashion company who makes beautiful high quality ethical fashion items. Nancy Dee’s summer print addition is their soft elegant Gwen peplum dress which had been an emerging summer trend of 2014.
This dress is made in Britain in Organic cotton and bamboo with an aki leaf print that makes the dress super soft, ethical and on trend. We just love it!
An other Beyond Skin print wonder this summer was Mona in red geometric print.
Mona is made in Italian printed fabric with a delicate red binding on the topline – completely cruelty-free. And is a very on-trend flat pump with it the front collar detail.
Mona is now in sale – yay – and though she was a summer hit, Mona will go splendidly with your fall coloured wardrobe. Mona features a 1cm heel so you can go all day without sore feet.
Another trend that has emerged this summer is matching top and bottoms.
It used to only be allowed to full on match when wearing a suit for the office, but with the new summer 2014 print loving trend, we need print everywhere and it is almost dificult to go overboard.
Stella McCartney’s addition to the all over print trend is a sophisticated croc style print shirt and skirt.
The all over print set is in a low key nude colour, and is made in very light linen and vegetarian silk on georgette.
The translucent georgette has been trending for a couple of seasons by now, and we hope it will keep going for an other couple of seasons still. Especially mixed with animal prints.
Animal print are essential for any woman with respect for her wardrobe and this summer was packed with animal prints.
Beyond Skin has been long known for our animal printed footwear and you can find many animal printed shoes in our entire collection in both flats and heels.
Inspired by the summer trend and Stella McCartney’s animal print summer suit, we thought you readers should take a look at Josie before she is completely sold out after the summer sandal rush.
Josie in pale Gold is made in faux snake skin printed vegan leather with beautiful intricate strap detailing on the front. Josie also comes in faux snake printed pewter coloured print with black Dinamica suede straps.
Josie features a 10cm block heel and approximately 2cm platform for a bit more comfort and 100% vegan.
No summer is complete without flower print dresses and as WGSN predicted, south pacific print has been a big fashion hit this summer in both men’s and women’s summer outfits.
“Ruby Rocks clothes are made in a small factory in Bali, where no children are employed and they are all fairly paid well above the average for the country and industry. The company know everyone who makes the clothes, provides them with recreation areas, healthcare and healthcare for family members as well. ”
We are not ready to say farewell to the summer yet, so let us all salute this last bit of summer celebrating these best outfits of the summer 2014 in this short time we have left.
See you next week…
